Sleepovers are so much fun! When it’s time for your kids to have a sleepover, there are some fun things you can do. Even if you’re having a last-minute sleepover! It doesn’t have to be daunting or perfect, either. It can be as simple or fun-filled as you want!
So, here are some awesome, fun simple kid sleepover ideas that can work for planned or unplanned sleepovers!
1. Choose a Fun Movie
This is an absolute sleepover must! A good movie is highly recommended when it’s time for your kids to have a fun sleepover! This is the perfect opportunity to have them watch an awesome movie to maybe catch up on some work around the house, or simply just chill, or maybe even watch it with them!
Here are some awesome sleepover movies that kids are bound to love:
- Ice Princess
- High School Musical
- A Cinderella Story
- Soul Surfer
- Aquamarine
- Raise Your Voice
- Holiday In The Sun (Or, really any young Mary Kate and Ashley movie)
- Smart House
- The Parent Trap
- Freaky Friday
- Any Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks movie
And why, yes, this is my personal collection from when I was growing up! There are so many more movies too, depending on their ages, that they will love! My oldest daughter LOVES it when I pick “old” movies I watched growing up.
2. Order Pizza
You simply can’t have a fun sleepover without pizza! Of course, if pizza is not an option, there are many other cool sleepover foods, too! Here is some awesome sleepover foods that kids will most definitely love:
- Pizza
- Wings
- Tacos
- Sloppy Joes
- Spaghetti
- Philly sandwiches
- Loaded potato soup
- Nacho Bar
And so many more! If it’s unplanned, pizza or wings is a great way to go. If it’s planned, find out what everyone likes or prefers ahead of time, so there are more people happy than not!
3. Dance Party
Of course, you have to have a dance party. If your kids love to dance like mine do, it’s a great chance to show off their dance moves.
This can be so much fun, and don’t be afraid to join in on the fun, either!
My kids also love playing the game “Dance Central” and always ask to play it when they have friends over! It’s a pretty cool game (though some of the song choices are questionable in my opinion), but it does definitely help them move and groove!
4. Play a Game
Games are always fun! Break out the games you haven’t used in a while, and let the kids go crazy! You can also play some fun sleepover games that need very few materials:
Check out this awesome list of awesome sleepover games for kids:
- Would You Rather
- Truth or Dare
- Charades
- Two Truths and a Lie
- Pillow Fight
Games are a fun way to relax and let the kids enjoy themselves!
5. Have A Treat
Okay, of course after the delicious dinner you have to have a treat! This could be a snack or something sweet. Here are a few go-to treats that are perfect for sleepovers!
- Ice cream
- Ice cream sandwiches
- Popcorn
- Candy
- Cookies
- Cupcakes
- Popsicles
- Chips
Basically, all of the sweet/salty things! There are so many options out there! And, if you are planning a sleepover, there are so many good resources!
Again, just like dinner, something you can do beforehand if your sleepover is planned is ask what type of snacks everyone likes beforehand. Happy girls = happy night!
6. Spend Time Outside
As long as the weather permits, spending a little bit of time outside is always a good idea! Now, assuming you may not have enough bikes, scooters, or outside entertainment for the sleepover guests, there are other options! Options like:
- Taking walks
- Playing tag
- Coloring with chalk on the sidewalk
- Going to the park
- Zoo (if they will be there in the daytime)
If you stray too far away from home, make sure to take snacks!
7. Do Makeup, Hair, and Nails
The list wouldn’t be complete without hair, makeup, and nails! My girls are very much into beauty and makeup. It is no surprise that they would love to paint their nails and look fabulous during a sleepover!
We love to go to the dollar store and get the nails, glue, and any other things that catch our eyes!
8. Freetime
One thing I like to do is let the kids have free time. Free time to play and let their imaginations run wild. This also gives me a chance to breathe and figure out other things that are constantly on my mind that need to get done.
Getting dinner ready, quick clean up of an area around the house that needs attention, or doing other quick tasks is what I like to do when they’re playing! Or simply just getting dinner or snacks ready for later!
So, here are my fun simple kid sleepover ideas!
The best part about this is that it works well for little or big kids! Tell me in the comments what fun things you plan for your kiddos!
