Shows on Netflix Right Now
Recently someone asked, “What’s your favourite show at the moment on Netflix?”
Here are some of the top responses with some of my own picks as well!
Lockwood and Co
Netlix’s newest Young Adult thriller is Lockwood and Co, based on the books of the same name.
In a world plagued by ghosts, where giant corporations employ psychic teens to battle the supernatural, only one company operates without adult supervision. Its name is Lockwood & Co. Run by Anthony Lockwood, a rebellious young entrepreneur haunted by his mysterious past, his brilliant but eccentric sidekick George and a newly arrived, supremely gifted girl called Lucy, this renegade trio is about to unravel a terrifying mystery that will change the course of history.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive
Someone responded to the question, “Being an automotive industry/motorsports guy, I’ve always casually paid attention to F1 but never sat down and watched a race. I’ve just loved the engine and suspension tech, especially recently with the addition of electric hybrid systems. This show has me hooked. What goes into these races is incredible.”
Cunk on Earth
This mockumentary gained a cult following in the few weeks after its release.
“I need more Cunk. If only they made another one like… I don’t know, “Cunk on Britain” or something,” someone complained.
Trailer Park Boys
This wickedly funny mockumentary series follows the booze-fueled misadventures of Julian, Ricky, and Bubbles, longtime pals, and petty serial criminals who run scams from their Nova Scotia trailer park — when they aren’t in jail, that is.
Derry Girls
Following the lives of 5 friends in Northern Ireland, this hilarious coming-of-age show is both funny and poignant.
One person commented, “I’m shocked how often I cried during this show. It was fantastic.”
Another said, “I just finished binging the whole show, it was brilliant.”
Dark
One person commented about this show, “As a fan of lost this show is the first show to scratch the itch in the same way. There have been other shows since like from and yellowjackets but dark holds a special place in my heart for having such a great ending.”
Mindhunter
Unfortunately, there will not be a third season of this show, so beware before watching,
One person said, “Would love it if Fincher would just hand it over to someone else at this point since the tone, setting, and style is quite set after two seasons. Biased as a Dane, but I think Tobias Lindholm could handle the task of showrunner and give us a great third season. He did a few of the episodes and has a history of blending fact and fiction together on film.”
The Last Kingdom
Someone replied, “Yes, I love this show! It doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Can’t wait for the movie, but also, I will be sad that it’s over.”
Love, Death, and Robots
Terror, imagination, and beauty combine in new episodes which stretch from uncovering an ancient evil to a comedic apocalypse, telling startling short stories of fantasy, horror, and science-fiction with trademark wit and visual invention.
“That episode with the rats is epic!” someone commented.
Peaky Blinders
Someone wrote, “I need to give it another go. I started season one, and it was rough getting past the first couple of episodes. It’s such a slow starter.”
“It gets so much better,” someone reassured them- this was a sentiment shared by many, so it’s worth sticking with it.
Arcane
“Arcane is probably the most flawless show I’ve ever watched,” someone said.
The synopsis of the show reads, “Arcane dives into the delicate balance between the rich city of Piltover and the seedy underbelly of Zaun.”
The Glory
“The Glory is so good,” one person wrote.
The Glory is a Netflix series about a woman who lives for absolute revenge against the childhood bullies who destroyed her life.
The Umbrella Academy
“The Umbrella Academy. Was hooked from the second I started watching it and I’m overly obsessed with it still a year later,” one person wrote.
Another added, “Such an enjoyable experience to watch it.”
Midnight Mass
One person answered, “My answer will always be Midnight Mass.”
Another person added, “Yeah, it felt like an old friend to me, having grown up in New England and reading Stephen King. The story felt like something that would be at home in his universe.”
The Sandman
“Such a great show. I’ve watched it 4 times so far,” someone wrote.
Another added, “I was gobsmacked they managed to make it better than the graphic novel, which I thought was perfection.”
The Queen’s Gambit
Someone wrote, “The Queen’s Gambit (2020) mini-series is a true work of art.”
Another added, “If you are on the fence about this show because it’s about chess – the show isn’t really about Chess at all.”
Castlevania
Castlevania is a gothic horror action-adventure video game series and media franchise about Dracula. There are three seasons out and a 4th coming soon.
The Sinner
When a young mother inexplicably stabs a stranger to death, a sympathetic detective struggles to unlock the mystery buried in her missing memories.
“Such a weird show. I can’t stop watching,” someone wrote.
Kaleidoscope
Spanning 25 years, Kaleidoscope is an all-new anthology series following a crew of masterful thieves and their attempt to crack a seemingly unbreakable vault for the biggest payday in history.
The cool thing about this show is that all eight episodes can be watched in any order you want- you can pick the order you want, or Netflix will show it to you at random.
