A creepy Zac Efron portrays the prolific serial killer who targeted young women during the 1970s. The film is based on a tell-all book by Elizabeth Kloepfer, who was Bundy’s one-time fiance.

Nicolas Cage and John Cusack lead a talented cast in this serial killer thriller. Based on the true-life story of Robert Hansen who was also known as the Butcher Baker, this film tells the story of the man who assaulted and murdered women near Anchorage by hunting them down.

Did you know that real-life events inspired this 1960s Hitchcock horror classic? The film was based on a short story of the same name. Both the film and story were inspired by an incident in Bodega Bay, California, where residents were subjected to violent and sudden attacks by birds. While it was later determined toxic algae caused the birds to go batty, it was spooky enough for a horror flick nonetheless.

This Spanish film is loosely based on the unsolved mystery of a teenager who died in 1991 after performing a seance at her school. The film includes texts, an emergency phone call, and police reports discussing the supernatural happenings. The case caught massive attention in Spain because it was the first official time an officer admitted to witnessing something paranormal.

While this British horror flick has not been tied to any particular one particular story, if you are familiar with the unsolved mystery of the Yuba County Five, it’s hard not to see the similarities.

 

The film tells the story of a group of young men who take a trip into the woods for an unknown reason. With plans for the next day, their families expected the men to return promptly, but they did not come home.

This historically based thriller tells the tale of a Spanish photographer who was brought into a German concentration camp. He helps reveal the atrocities being committed.

 

Psycho

This 1960 horror classic is a must-watch for anyone who is a fan of the horror genre. Known best perhaps for its infamous shower scene, a young woman is murdered by a hotel manager, who has his dead mother’s body still at his home. This film’s lead character was inspired by real life serial killer Ed Gein who was obsessed with his mother.

A couple’s dream home turns into a nightmare as they start getting unwanted items at their home, and unexplained happenings start occurring. The film is based on a couple of real-life stories, including that of a San Diego couple, as well as the story of Daniel LaPlante, who lived inside the walls of a home.

The film and book both tell the true life story of a stay-at-home mom who was found with an ax in her head while her 3-year-old child was left alone with the body. Amanda Seyfried and James Norton lead a talented cast for this story that uncovers sinister secrets.
