5 Intense Frugal Living Tips You’ll Have To Be Brave To Try

We talk about frugal living tips a lot, but how committed to the frugal lifestyle are you? It turns out that I’m not as frugal as some people, even though I pride myself on my frugality.

There are some frugal living tips that are really intense and make all my budgeting, coupon clipping, and cooking at home look like child’s play. These intense frugal living tips will really save you some money, but they are not for everyone!

If you are desperate to save some money or just like being as frugal as you can, then here are some intense frugal living tips you’ll have to be really brave to even try.

Living in Your Car

People’s biggest expense is usually their rent or mortgage. Imagine how much you could save if you didn’t have to pay that bill for even one month. People who are desperate to save money or get ahead a little bit can live in their car for a month or longer.

This is not without its dangers, though. In some states and cities, it is illegal, and in others, you can be harassed by people and law enforcement, so do your research and stay safe.

Dye Your Clothes Black

This is kind of an extreme life hack, but it can be quite the saver. Clothes that are still in good condition, yet faded or stained, can be dyed black to give them renewed life. This is especially great if you work from home and don’t need very professional clothes.

Save Water in the Bathroom

This hack is brilliant because it saves a lot of water that would have otherwise gone to waste. Keep two large bottles by the shower and fill them up before taking a shower, so we aren’t wasting the running water while waiting for the water to be hot enough to shower. You can then use this water to mop the floor and water plants. This can reduce your water bill quite a bit and help save water.

Dumpster Diving

Did you know that store throw out perfectly good food and other products? Well they do and you can go through their dumpsters to fund them!

You could do dumpster diving to find items for your use and resale. The secret of dumpster diving is knowing when and where to hunt treasure.

Find out which stores dispose of items without destroying them and when they do it. Stores typically have specific times and days they do this, so you need to know when they let go of their old stock, which you can take and use.

Find places you can dumpster dive without trespassing and get to diving!

Free or Wild Camping

Living an RV life or pitching your tent would go a long way toward saving you money on rent and utilities

If you have the amenities, try looking for parking lots that allow people to pitch their tents in your neighborhood.

You could also camp in national forests at lower costs. While rules may differ, many allow people to pitch their tents for at least 14 days every month. Many would pitch their tent in one location and move to the next location when their time elapsed.

This way, you will not only save on rent but also on other utilities such as electricity and water.
