Free Breast Pump
If you live in the United States, your insurance company should provide you with a free breast pump. Different companies work differently, so ask your doctor or check your insurance website to find out how to get your free breast pump. Breast pumps are very expensive, so make sure to call your insurance company if you don’t find any information easily.
For example, check out Aeroflow and see if your insurance company will cover a free breast pump.
Get Free Books for Your Baby
Every parent knows that reading to your child is extremely important for their mental development. In addition, as your child grows, it’s essential to have different books around the house for them.
Below are several great places to get free books for you and your baby.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends free books every month to kids under the age of 5. As part of a program to promote literacy, Imagination Library mails a curated book to each kid who lives in one of its eligible areas. It is super easy to sign up and well worth it!
Check the Imagination Library to see if you are in one of the serviced areas.
PJ Library
Are you Jewish? If yes, the PJ Library sends Jewish books to all kids every month! So sign up today and get free books, the occasional activity, and prizes!
More Free Stuff for Baby
There are many other ways to get free stuff for your baby and you. Here are some different ways to hack, borrow, and get through those expensive baby years!
You can get free baby clothes, free baby gear, free baby toys, and other stuff from moms who are finished using their items and have no more use for them. I have gotten a free baby stroller, a free baby swing, and a baby carrier from other mothers who were happy for them to be used and loved.
- Hand-me-downs for free baby clothes
- Craigslist
- Buy Nothing Groups
- Facebook Marketplace
- Garage Sales
Downsides
Many of the free items you can receive from companies and programs come with a “price tag.” This is because you give your personal information to companies that can do it as they wish. I’m personally okay with that, but you should be aware of it before signing up for these free samples and free baby stuff.
If you are more cautious about your personal information, consider opening a new email address specifically for signing up for freebies and samples. You can also slightly change your kids’ names and birthdates to protect your info further.
There are many times when I get freebies and samples that I honestly have no use for. When this happens, I either unsubscribe from the programs or take the items and pass them along to others. You can give them to neighbors, post on Buy Nothing Groups, donate to Little Free Libraries or Pantries, or give them to a food bank or shelter.
