7 Things Everyone Wanting To Be a Minimalist Must Declutter in Spring 2025

It’s almost the new year, and that means it’s time for a new start. Anyone who wants to start embracing minimalism in 2025 should start by doing a bit of decluttering! Here are all the things you should declutter BEFORE Spring 2025 so you can start the spring and summer on the right foot.

Expired Sunscreen

It’s really important to throw out any expired sunscreen as you really wouldn’t want your skin to get burned when you accidentally use expired sunscreen. Sunscreen has a relatively short shelf life, and when it sits in the sun, it reduces the shelf life even more.

Old Winter Clothing Items and Winter Shoes

Perhaps your kids have outgrown a winter coat or winter shoes, and it, therefore, may be time to go through all the items that have served in winter in the past to determine which ones will only be taking up excess space in our cupboards.

These items can serve a purpose elsewhere if you donate them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

Expired Items From the Fridge, Freezer, and Pantry

You are going to want to clean out the fridge, freezer, and pantry before the new season (and you should want to), then you are going to need to get rid of the expired items that may cause excess clutter.

Toss any expired perishables like condiments, for example, so that you can have a much easier time when cleaning these areas in your kitchen.

Expired Medication

Since the greater part of flu season is over, it would be a good idea to raid your medicine cabinets to get rid of any expired meds from the previous year. You may need to use allergy medicine when the pollination time starts, and you wouldn’t want to use expired meds that are not going to relieve your symptoms.

Outdoor Equipment

If you are the type of person who likes to get busy in the garden over spring and summer, then it would be a great idea to throw away any gardening equipment before the gardening season starts!

Indoor Plants

Spring is approaching if it’s not already arrived where you are in the world, and that means that it’s the start of the outdoor garden season. How fun! If you have any indoor plants that are no longer thriving there, it may be best to chuck them if you’re not going to spend the time trying to revive them.

Paperwork

This would be a great time to go through any old paperwork that you definitely won’t need going forward and consider shredding them. There is no reason to hang on to a pile of receipts from grocery shopping and the like. This way, you’ll be heading into the new season with a better-organized pile of paperwork.
