12 Not Very Obvious Sign That Someone Is Rich

Another user says that although they never flinch when a bill comes, they do not talk about money, “Most of the time, they will stay quiet about money, but never balk when presented with a bill. They will be very selective in those they choose to be friends with, for various legal reasons.”

Expensive Hobbies

They have expensive hobbies and do not seem to worry about the cost; as another person points out, “Casually having expensive hobbies. Stuff like sailing, skiing, and golfing. Especially in areas where those activities aren’t as accessible and if they’ve been doing it for a long time. You live in the Midwest, but you’ve been surfing since you were 10? Probably rich.”

They Do Not Wear Branded Clothing

You cannot find them online, “They have no digital footprint. They actually pay people to keep information about them off the internet and out of any publications. They will keep a low profile, driving cars that blend in. Nice, reliable vehicles, but nothing too flashy,” said another user.

Do Not Carry Much Luggage While Flying

A user says that since many rich people own multiple homes, they do not need to carry luggage, “So many wealthy people have multiple homes with separate wardrobes at each. To just jump on a plane with no carry-on bags must be a dream.”

They Take Care of Their Dental Health

Dental health is expensive, and as one user points out, you can tell the rich people by their smiles, “Seeing people with outstanding teeth and smiles. That is seriously expensive and usually is dead last on most people’s to-do list since it is so expensive.”

Books as Investments

One user shares a personal experience of how he came to learn his friend was rich, “I used to have a running buddy who was very rich. For me, the non-obvious sign was the books on his bookcase. They weren’t books to be read. They were investments. He told me once that if somebody tried to rob his place, they might go for the big TV, but they should go for the bookshelf.”

Patience

One user argues that rich people have all the time they need, so they can afford to do whatever they want, “So I think a non-obvious sign someone is wealthy is their patience. Time is money, and they have all the money they could ever want, so they don’t care about time anymore.”

They Do Not Ask About the Cost

Whatever they want, they buy irrespective of the cost, “I didn’t have much experience with very rich people. But I noticed that a person never asked how much a thing costs. “I like – I buy””, observed one user.

Most rich people tend to avoid talking about what they do for a living; as one user points out, “They don’t like to talk/brag about what they do for a living. They will usually give very vague descriptions outlining what they do for work.”

They Lease Liabilities

Smart rich people do not own liabilities. They lease them. One user attests to this, “I was told by someone that worked for a billionaire, as in their assistant. (Assistant to the billionaire, Dwight). She said that they rarely ever own a liability with a depreciating value, i.e., yachts, cars, and they will “lease” or rent them through their business. Not that the business pays for them, but the business is on the hook.”
