We all need to save money these days. Everywhere I go, I hear about people struggling to make ends meet or feeling financially stressed.
As inflation rises and everything becomes more and more expensive, cutting costs is more important than ever before.
Start by cutting these four costs to help lower your monthly expenses.
Subscriptions
This might seem radical, but there are so many subscriptions that you probably have signed up for that you don’t actually need.
Look at your monthly bills with a critical eye.
Do you really need those delivery apps, like Amazon Prime, Walmart Plus, and Target Circle?
Do you really need Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Paramount, and Peacock?
Start by canceling as many as you can. Then cancel some more.
Challenge yourself to go a month or more without frivolous subscriptions. Then, if you really need them back, you can wait till there is a great deal and sign up again.
Brand Name Items
We’ve come to associate certain brand-name items with quality. But that can’t be further from the truth! There are so many generic products that work just as well as the name-brand items. Sometimes, even with coupons and cashback, the generic product comes out cheaper.
Yes, you might have to be flexible with scents or tastes, but you should give it a try. Next time you go shopping, ONLY buy store-brand or generic products and see how much you save!
Some large savings ideas: Kirkland brand laundry detergent, Great Value shampoo and body wash, Up&Up diapers and baby wipes.
Car
Yes, you probably do need your car. But do you need it as much as you think you do? The next time you have to run to the store or to pick something up from somewhere, try to walk. It may not be the scenic or convenient route, but at least you’ll get some exercise in!
You should also try to carpool to work, school, or other errands.
The Big Bills
You might not be able to negotiate or cut down your mortgage or rent, but have you tried negotiation or finding a better deal on your other bills? Call your provider and ask for a discount; if they don’t offer one, try shopping around.
You can do this with insurance (particularly car and home), telephone bills, electric bills, internet bills, and anything else you might have!
It’s an easy way to save some real money every month!
