Inside many homes, valuable things are just collecting dust. If you plan on decluttering your home soon, you may want to be on the lookout for some of these valuable items before chucking out a truckload of things.
Some things can be donated to charities, but others you may want to hold on to. Here, we have listed some valuable items that may be gathering dust in your home, and before you throw them out, it’s best to know their worth.
Vinyl
Vinyls are back, baby! These antiquated discs have been trending hard with audiophiles and even non-audiophiles recently, and due to their growing popularity, their prices have skyrocketed. Of course, not every single one is worth a lot, but some golden oldies are worth tens of thousands of dollars today.
Old Furniture
Much like fashion trends, interior design trends come and go, too. Any furniture dating back to the 90s or before this time could be worth several hundreds or even thousands of dollars today.
Rare Notes or Coins
Most households have at least one or a whole handful of old coins or bills that may no longer be accepted to pay for things but are worth a lot of money. If you have any old bills or coins, you can check in with a local coin dealer to see if they hold any value.
Books
It’s unlikely that you hold an original copy of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland ( which is worth $2 million, just by the way), although you may have some other old books worth something in your library.
Depression Glass
Some colors and patterns of depression glass pieces hold more value than others, but it may still be worth investigating your sets if you want to make a quick buck. Full sets can go for up to $500 and more when sold on eBay or other platforms.
Watches
In a sense, watches can be like fancy cars. Of course, not every old watch holds significant value, but when dealing with the big names such as Rolex, LeCoultre, Patek Philippe, or Movado, one can make a killing when trying to sell one of these watches provided they are in good condition.
Vintage Cookbooks
Before chucking any old cookbooks that you have in your possession, it would be best to see if they hold any value first. Chances are low that you hold Julia Child’s “Master the Art of French Cooking,” but in case you have something of this caliber- it could be valued at around $2000.
Typewriters
For these antique mechanical keyboards to hold value, they need to be in full working condition. They could go for anything from $20 to $100, which is not much, but hey … at least it’s something, and if you wait a little longer, their value may go up.
Cassette Tapes
Before discarding any old cassette tapes, it would be best to see if they hold any worth. In 2016, Versace Experience from Prince sold for a whopping $4117.
Old Toys
Remember Tamagotchis? These toys are worth hundreds of dollars nowadays. If you have a large antique toy collection, you may very well be sitting with a small fortune.
