If you don’t already know what a bucket list is, it’s a list of things to do and places to go during one’s lifetime. The term picked up in popularity following the 2007 buddy film The Bucket List, starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, but it had been around long before them.
Many think the term “bucket list” originates from the phrase “kick the bucket,” which means to die. That phrase itself refers to the Medieval practice of execution by hanging, where the executioner would kick away a bucket, leaving the condemned prisoner suspended in the air.
Even if you never check off an entire bucket list, it can be fun to make one, and it can give a sense of purpose and focus.
Here are 50 ideas for bucket list items and why they’re worthy.
