10 Easy Money Ideas for the Days You Have Absolutely Zero Energy

Most side income advice assumes you have energy to spare.

This list doesn’t.

It’s for the nights you’re running on fumes, whether that’s from work, health stuff, parenting, or just one of those weeks that seem endless and overwhelming.

Every idea below works from the couch, in bed, or even while waiting in the carpool line.

1. Let Bandwidth-Sharing Apps Run in the Background

You install an app like Honeygain or Pawns.app  once, and it quietly shares your unused internet connection while you do nothing at all. You never open it again after setup. The per-device payout is small, but the effort is close to zero, so it’s pure background income for anyone with an unlimited data plan.

2. Scan Your Grocery Receipt Before You Toss It

You already have the receipt in your hand. Open Fetch or Ibotta, point your camera at it for a few seconds, and put it down.

Running two or three receipt apps on the same receipt takes under a minute total, and the cashback stacks across all of them. Receipt Hog is worth adding too since it accepts receipts from any store with no offers to activate first.

3. Answer a Few Questions on Academic Research Platforms

Sites like Prolific connect you with real university and industry researchers who need honest opinions, not sales pitches.

You tap through statements like “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree” while lying flat on your back.

Most studies run for 10 to 15 minutes, and because there’s grant funding behind them, the pay tends to beat that of commercial survey sites.

4. Rate Ads, Search Results, and Short Clips

Platforms like UserTesting and Swagbucks pay for your reaction to ads, videos, and search results. You look at something for a few seconds, tap a rating, move to the next one.

It’s opinion-based, so you can do it half-asleep and still get it right.

5. Sell One Thing From Your House Every Night

Not a weekend decluttering marathon, just one item before bed.

Take a photo, write a two-sentence description, set a price, post it to Poshmark or Facebook Marketplace. Five minutes a night adds up to 30 listings a month, and most will sell while you’re at work or asleep.

6. Let a Browser Extension Find Coupon Codes for You

Install Capital One Shopping or Rakuten once and forget about it.

When you’re checking out online at midnight because you can’t sleep, it automatically tries codes. Sometimes it saves nothing; sometimes it knocks a few dollars off; and either way, you didn’t have to do anything.

7. Watch Trailers and Short Clips for Companies Testing Content

This is the same idea as scrolling video on your phone, except someone pays you for the reactions they specifically want.

Platforms like Swagbucks and UserTesting include these video tasks alongside their survey work, so a few minutes of watching plus a handful of questions is the whole job.

8. Sell Digital Files You Already Made

Old spreadsheets, templates, guides, photo presets, anything you built for yourself months or years ago and forgot about.

Listing it on Etsy as a digital download takes about 10 minutes, and then it sits there. Any sale that comes in is money for work you already finished.

9. Let Round-up Investing Collect Your Spare Change

Link your card to an app like Acorns and every purchase gets rounded up to the nearest dollar, with the difference invested automatically.

You don’t need to make decisions; you don’t need to open an app or think.  It’s just some extra dimes you earn by buying what you were already buying.

10. Check for Unclaimed Money in Your Name

This takes less time than reading this post. Every state holds unclaimed funds from old accounts, forgotten deposits, and overpaid bills.

Search for free at unclaimed.org, the official site run by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators, or missingmoney.com, which covers most participating states in one search. Five minutes per state, no cost to search or claim.

Some people find nothing. Some people find enough to make every other idea on this list beside the point.

None of these will change your life on their own, but they all work while you’re running on empty. The point is that tired you still earns something instead of nothing.
