12 Cancelled Shows That Fans Are Still Upset About

Sometimes a show being canceled can be completely gut-wrenching, especially when you’re really into a series! Here are the best answers to the question, “Which TV so cancellation are you still frustrated about?”

And let’s just say: there are so many relatable answers on this list!

Frustrating TV Show Cancellations That We Still Haven’t Gotten Over

From cliffhangers to networks dropping the ball, all these TV show cancellations left viewers frustrated for one reason or another.

Happy Endings

“Cancelled due to low views, but that was a result of changing around its time slots, not viewers no longer having interest.” one user said.

That’s definitely frustrating! Thankfully this is less of an issue now that we have streaming services.

Almost Human

“It had such potential and never even finished its first season.” a fan complained.

Apparently, it was shown out of order, which made it impossible to watch. This one is on my list, too; it had so much potential!

Invader Zim

Invader Zim is one that came up a few times, especially since this animated show is still a cult classic with kids nowadays. It’s not all bad, though. Apparently, this cancellation prompted one of the show’s artists to team up with a friend and create the hit series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

Based on the Douglas Adams novel by the same name, this series was canceled because a lot of people didn’t really care for the second season. Those that liked it, though, are very frustrated about the TV show’s cancellation.

My Name Is Earl

This comedy series had a pretty good run (4 seasons), but the real reason fans are frustrated about its cancellation is that there was supposed to be a season 5 to wrap everything up since that didn’t happen, season 4 ended on a major cliffhanger that was never resolved. (Well, not until Raising Hope came out, anyway.)

Santa Clarita Diet

Another victim of Netflix’s cancellations, Santa Clarita Diet, ended on a major cliffhanger and wasn’t renewed for another season. If that’s not enough to leave fans frustrated about a TV show cancellation, I don’t know what is.

“The cast was so [..] good. Cliffhanger ending, lots left to explore, yeah that hurt and I’m still mad about it.” according to a fan.

Dark Matter

I loved this Canadian-made sci-fi show, and I’m definitely not alone here. Sadly it was canceled after season 3, which is a shame because it seemed to be going places. Worse still, it was actually doing well, just not making enough money for the network.

Venture Brothers

Go, team Venture! This is one of my personal favorites. It did get a decent run but was likely doomed to fail from the start because of the challenges between Cartoon Network and the show’s creators.

Carnivàle

Just when things were getting interesting, HBO pulled the plug on Carnivàle due to low ratings. This left the show, which was originally planned as a 6 season run, on a cruel cliffhanger.

Someone said, “The worst part, though is that the writer was on record saying he wanted to make a movie for the fans so that we weren’t left hanging but HBO refused to hand over the rights.”

I wonder if it’s true?

Lie to Me

Lie to Me started off strong but eventually went down in quality and ratings as it became less science focused. Apparently, this was due to the show’s star, Tim Roth, not wanting to talk about science. Such a shame.

Galavant

Timothy Omundson and Joshua Sasse in Galavant (2015).

When it came out, Galavant was like nothing else on TV at the time. The whole show was a musical! Unfortunately, that didn’t strike a chord with everyone (pun intended). But for the fans who loved it, the show’s cancellation was crushing.

“Years later, I still sing some of its tunes on a daily basis.” someone said.

Limitless

I’m including this one just for my own catharsis. Limitless was super interesting and gripping – definitely, a TV show that I’m still frustrated about being canceled. What’s worse, it cut off on a cliffhanger ending too.

The worst part of having your favorite show canceled is that you never get to see the ending and never find out what happened to all the characters. If there was a good ending, the fans might not be upset!
