How To Renew Your Passport

There are several steps in renewing your passport. The process can be started via mail (the easiest), in person, or through an embassy if you live abroad.

Eligibility for Renewal of Your Passport:

According to the U.S. government, a few things will make you eligible to have your passport renewed.


– If issued before your 16th birthday – It is 15 years or older – If damaged – A lost or stolen passport – You may need to change your name on your ticket due to a name change. – It is in your possession, and you want to get it renewed.

When Should You Renew Your Passport?

Most international destinations would like you to have a valid passport for six months after the end of your trip. That allows you to be able to exit without overstaying your visa. So due to the pandemic, the U.S. government has been a bit slower processing passports.
