Trump Calls for Protests as He Tells His Followers That He Will Be Arrested on Tuesday, “Take Our Nation Back”

In a post on Truth Social, ex-President Donald Trump declared that he expects to be arrested this Tuesday,  in a long-awaited culmination to the prolonged inquiry into hush money paid to adult movie star Stormy Daniels.

Take Our Nation Back

He encouraged his followers to “take out nation back.”

On March 18 at 7.26 am, Trump posted on Truth Social, “NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

 

 

As expected, social media exploded, with both sides arguing for and against Former President Trump. Many are worried that his followers will take up a call to arms on Tuesday, just as they did on January 6th.

It’s Not Him

Trump’s son took to Twitter to claim political persecution, “Remember this? Well now more than ever it’s being proven right. If they can take him out they’re one step closer to taking you and your freedoms out… and apparently that’s been the plan all along.”

He posted that along with a meme saying, “In reality, they are not after me; they are after you. I’m just in the way.”

This is a common talking point that Trump is protecting the American public from being arrested or harmed somehow.

Protect Against Violence

Rep. Swalwell called for the nation to prepare for protests and riots from Trump supporters.

Rep. Eric Swalwell posted on Twitter, “It was Donald Trump who broadcasted to the world the FBI raided his home to retrieve top secret documents. And it’s Donald Trump who has broadcasted to the world that he’ll soon be arrested. His goal is acts of violence in his name. And we must be prepared to protect against it.”

Speculation abounds if Trump will actually be arrested and whether his followers will attempt a form of protest, whether he is arrested or not.

Political Persecution

Lauren Boebert called it “Political Persecution” in a Tweet on Sunday, “We all need to be speaking up against the political persecution of President Trump. This is not the time for silence.”

Communism

Marjorie Taylor Greene called it an act of Communism, saying, “We don’t need to protest about the Communists Democrat’s planning to arrest Pres Trump and the political weaponization of our government and election interference. These idiots are sealing their own fate in 2024 because the silent majority has two feelings right now about the current regime. Fear and anger. That is the most powerful combination when election time comes. And the Democrats are driving that force with their own corrupt actions.”

Victory

Elon Musk shared similar sentiments, writing, “If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory.
