Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, released his memoir, âSpareâ in January, and since then, it’s made history.
The Guinness World Records confirmed that âSpareâ became the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time selling 1.43 million copies on its release day.
Keeping Quiet
The residents of Buckingham Palace have yet to comment on the contents of Harry’s book. They were quick to shoot down the Sussex’s claims of racism in 2021, though, with William asserting that the family was “very much not a racist family,” while Queen Elizabeth quipped, “Recollections may vary.”
A Royal Tiff
One of the events the book mentions is a physical altercation Harry and his brother William got into in 2019. The fight included a word exchange about Harry’s decision to lose his virginity, take copious amounts of drugs, and cause the deaths of 25 people in Afghanistan.
The casual way Harry talks about the events in Afghanistan, referring to it simply as “removing chess pieces from a board,” reportedly made veterans very angry.
Tragic Scam
Colonel Richard Kemp commented that what Harry said would “feed jihadist propaganda.”
A retired Colonel, Tim Collins, condemned Harry’s book as a “tragic money-making scam” and said, “That’s not how you behave in the army. It’s not how we think.”
Even a Senior Taliban official condemned Harry’s comments, tweeting, “Mr. Harry! The ones you killed were not chess pieces, they were humans; They had families who were waiting for their return.”
