Flexible Schedule Jobs in High Demand as Workers Crave Work-life Autonomy

According to FlexJobs, the leader in remote and flexible jobs, flexible schedule jobs have historically been the second most desired type of flexible work arrangements, following only remote work and well ahead of part-time and freelance work.

To highlight the variety of companies that hire for flexible schedule jobs that allow people to work remotely, FlexJobs has compiled a list of the top 35 companies hiring for the most flexible schedule jobs this year.

This list is based on an analysis of over 57,000 companies and looks specifically at their flexible schedule job posting histories in FlexJobs’ database between January 1, 2022, and September 30, 2022.

Flexible Schedule Jobs

“Flexible schedule jobs” refer to jobs that typically allow workers to set their own hours so they are mostly in control of their work hours, which can vary daily.

These types of schedules give workers more control over their start and end times, enabling them to create a work schedule that can also help them better meet the additional responsibilities in their lives.

With a split-shift schedule, for example, employees “split” their work in blocks throughout the day, allowing greater time for family and responsibilities while still working eight hours.

However, the “flexible schedule” term does not include alternative schedule jobs, where work hours are set outside of the typical Monday through Friday, 9-to-5 schedule.

“Flexible schedule jobs give employees work-life autonomy, enabling them to create work schedules that will better align to when they are most productive,” said Sara Sutton, Founder, and CEO of FlexJobs.

“The freedom to set and control one’s work schedule also contributes greatly to one’s ability to achieve better work-life balance, which is considered a critical benefit among today’s workers,” Sutton concluded.
